Finding an alternative to traditional dyes, something solvent-free and without the microplastics that are released into the environment during the aging process of conventional paint.

Inspiration was taken from traditional dyeing processes that use natural dyes from plants. A methodology was developed that also works for staining wood. The dyes were extracted from red cabbage, turmeric, avocado pits, and algae.
