fifty shades of rotkohl 2.0

A natural continuation in finding an alternative to traditional dyes, something solvent-free and without the microplastics that are released into the environment during the aging process of conventional paint.

The pattern used on the shelves resembles the shapes on the original furniture pieces of the project. For the design I got inspired by the Artist Josef Albers, especially interesting to me was the effect of manipulation through color. The monochromatic shelve are being perceived as a layering of transparent hues of pinks that only multiply on top of each other. Whereas the green and yellow shelves more clearly display how the application of the color happened in meticulously masked zones instead.
